These are exciting times.crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-17628466649816439232008-04-19T19:58:00.003-05:002008-04-19T20:00:15.675-05:00Welcome Back.Upon finding out that one can deposit directly to Full Tilt from one's checking account, I made a suitable deposit and sat down at a .25/.50 NL cash table. First 2 hands are AQ sooted, both winners. Table broke up 7 minutes later, I'm up $9.25.

This game is easy.crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-78253929434489827752007-11-23T00:13:00.000-05:002007-11-23T00:37:31.856-05:00My Adventures in Microstakes (a.k.a. The Chris Ferguson Challenge) - Part 1So, because of my poor bankroll management (in case I haven't mentioned it before, blogger tournaments are -EV), I've taken the few dollars that I have left and started going after the microstakes cash tables.

Starting with $4 a couple of weeks ago, I now have $7 thanks to 2 winning sessions.

2 highlights:

str8 flush

The other guy mucked trip 10's.

Later, I flop a boat from the SB. I get paid somewhat, but my river value doesn't (probably because a third club fell.)

Seat 1: crazdgamer ($5.70)
Seat 2: tica4 ($12.10)
Seat 3: monstro_dann ($10)
crazdgamer posts the small blind of $0.05
tica4 posts the big blind of $0.10
5 seconds left to act
monstro_dann posts $0.10
The button is in seat #9
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to crazdgamer [Qh Th]
monstro_dann checks
crazdgamer calls $0.05
tica4 checks
*** FLOP *** [Tc Qc Ts]
crazdgamer checks
tica4 checks
monstro_dann has 15 seconds left to act
monstro_dann bets $0.20
crazdgamer calls $0.20
tica4 folds
*** TURN *** [Tc Qc Ts] [7h]
crazdgamer checks
monstro_dann has 15 seconds left to act
monstro_dann bets $0.65
crazdgamer calls $0.65
*** RIVER *** [Tc Qc Ts 7h] [2c]
crazdgamer bets $0.50
monstro_dann has 15 seconds left to act
monstro_dann folds
Uncalled bet of $0.50 returned to crazdgamer
crazdgamer mucks
crazdgamer wins the pot ($1.80)

So now I have $7. That's almost a Mookie or Riverchasers buy-in. Too bad I won't be buying into either of these tournaments until I get at least 10 of those buy-ins. (Technically, I shouldn't have even sat down at the microstakes tables, since the amount on the table is definitely more than 10% of my bankroll, which breaks one of the Chris Ferguson Challenge rules.)

The plan here is to play in either the uber-donk 2,700 player freerolls in the futile hope of getting top 27 to score $2 (or get first for the big $15), or find a SNG or MTT in which the entry is FTP points, which I have plenty of. But, until then, I have $7.

Go me?crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-57278099725813830422007-11-08T21:32:00.000-05:002007-11-08T21:37:11.985-05:00Razz Sucks (Part 3)I guess this is my Presto is Gold-like series.

crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-54824563217139938382007-10-30T22:02:00.000-05:002007-10-30T22:10:34.403-05:00BBTwo: MATH 10/29/2007Position: 35/82

Not bad this time. I liked my play this time around, even though in the end, I pushed A9 in the SB against a button raise I figured for a steal, only for it to be AQ. Sometimes, it's not always stealing.

This highly unlikely event happened during the tourney.

And now, some bad news.

My FTP account is seriously lacking in funds.

Like... I won't be playing in any more BBTwo tourneys any time soon. Unless I decide to cash-deposit, which I'm less inclined to do than before, since I have less disposable income than I did the last time I cash-deposited. So, until I use what little I have left at the micro-stakes cash tables, I'm out of BBTwo. That's how it is.crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-39435467396177644942007-10-23T09:26:00.000-05:002007-10-23T09:54:49.097-05:00BBTwo Event 2 - MATH 10/22/2007Position: suck/82

This was the biggest MATH every, I think. I know it's probably because of the huge prizes that are being given out for the BBTwo.

Anyways, I didn't have the time to win a $75 token, and I didn't want to / couldn't buy into Sunday's Big Game directly, so I skipped Event 1 and started my BBTwo on Monday, instead.

Table 1 had some familiar faces, but some new ones.

Right at the start, any time I entered a pot, someone I didn't know would enter with me. My c-bets would be raised or called pretty consistently. I was able to take a few pots pre-flop in levels 2 and 3, but it was rough.

I pretty much forgot how to play against donks, since I've only played bloggers recently (and even then, not so often).

Then I get into a hand like this:

Blinds 20-40. thepokergrind limps UTG, I raise 4xBB with QQ, he calls, everyone else folds.

Flop is 3h5cKh. thepokergrind bets some amount (I don't have the hand history at the moment), I raise to see where I'm at, he re-raises. I currently have 1600 or so, and would have 1000 left behind if I called. I hate this, but I have to fold. Did he limp AA, AK, 55 or 33? I don't see him betting out and re-raising with anything I beat.

I go busto to him on this ridonkulous play.

Blinds are 30-60. He's in the cut-off and min-raises to 120. I have JJ, and I'm completely fed up with all the min-raise bullshit that this table's been doing. So, of course, I think it's a good idea to min-raise myself. It's sort of a "how do YOU like this"-thing. It made sense at the time. Shutup.

jjok in the BB folds, thepokergrind calls.

Flop is 8dTd6d.

I end up getting all in (I bet out, he raises, I push, he calls), and he turns over 7dAc. I'm way ahead. He has 7 outs.

So, of course, he hits 9h. He makes his inside straight.

But now I have an OESD. 7 makes a straight on the board, but me having a J will give me a higher straight, and Q will complete my straight, too.

No, I don't re-suck out on the river. That would be too easy.

So I'm gone.

My parting shot:

crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-58345933863290008772007-10-16T14:15:00.001-05:002007-10-16T14:17:48.203-05:00BBTwo

It's coming!crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-65009818885689169442007-10-01T23:04:00.000-05:002007-10-01T23:08:20.211-05:00MATH - 10/1/2007Poker? The big thing that I'm doing now that I wasn't before was that I'm being more careful about the hands I'm playing, not just the cards I'm dealt, but who I'm going against and how I'm playing after the flop. Sometimes I continuation-bet if I missed, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes I open-raised from the cutoff, sometimes I limped, others I folded. I was mixing up my game, being mindful of my table image (which, I think, I've ignored.)

Things started off with me getting briefly disconnected right after the cards I dealt. I have no idea why this happens, but for the last month, whenever a blogger tourney starts up, I lose my connection for 2 seconds, then it comes back. Of course, I have to sit through the FTP connection screen for 30 seconds before I can act, so it's a good thing I never get a good hand to start.

Kajagugu took an early lead, being very aggressive, often betting when checked to and re-raising much more than the rest of the table.

I lose 1000 chips on this hand where aggression rules all, and I play top pair more passively than I usually do.

Seat 1: crazdgamer (2,635)
Seat 2: FRicOG (3,415)
Seat 3: Kajagugu (4,460)
Seat 4: FishyMcDonK (3,300)
Seat 5: ricoMr (2,860)
Seat 6: NumbBono (2,530)
Seat 7: lightning36 (2,380)
Seat 8: BillyBee (2,420)
crazdgamer posts the small blind of 25
FRicOG posts the big blind of 50
The button is in seat #8

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Dealt to crazdgamer [Js Kc]
Kajagugu raises to 150
ricoMr calls 150
crazdgamer calls 125

*** FLOP *** [3h 2s Jc]
crazdgamer checks
Kajagugu bets 350
ricoMr folds
crazdgamer calls 350
*** TURN *** [3h 2s Jc] [Qd]
crazdgamer has 15 seconds left to act
crazdgamer bets 500
Kajagugu raises to 1,000
crazdgamer has 15 seconds left to act
crazdgamer folds
Uncalled bet of 500 returned to Kajagugu
Kajagugu mucks
Kajagugu wins the pot (2,200)

A couple of hands later, I raise 3xBB w/ A9o, get re-raised by Kajagugu, and am forced to fold. Of course, I have no idea if that's because I've been making better decisions or because I'm getting luckier, but the fact is that I made the BBT points twice in a row. I honestly can't remember the last time that's happened.

At the Hoy, I started off making some silly plays (floating with crap, for example.) I'm Gigli. Nice to meet you.

I don't have the hand history, but it goes almost exactly like this.

3 minutes in (15-30 blinds), I get AKo in the SB. UTG limps. Iggy raises to 90 from the cutoff. I wanted to re-raise, but was concerned about the limper as UTG limpers usually have monsters. I call, BB calls, UTG calls. Ugh.

Flop is AK8 rainbow. Score!

I'm first, and I bet 300 into a 360 pot. BB and UTG fold. Iggy raises. I put him on either AQ, AJ or 88. I decide to push anyway, and of course, he calls and turns up 88.

I'm down to 15 chips. Afterwards, a bunch of us returned to one person's house and set up a cash game. All of us bought in for $20. I had to rebuy twice and cashed out with $18, ending down $22.

While playing, I was able to pickup on one guy's play style despite meeting him that night; very-much aggressive almost to the point of being out of line. I had a chance to make some money off him on this hand:

I'm in the SB with A8o. Normally not good, but considering he'll raise with position, it's probably ahead of anything he has. Aggro-guy raises to $1 in the cutoff, I call, everyone else folds.

Flop is A73 rainbow. I bet $1, he raises to $2, I reraise to $6, he re-raises all-in (to put me all-in). I have $20 behind me at this point. I'm thinking I might be beat, but he's been playing aggressively all night, so I figure he can't have great hands all the time. I make the call and he flips up 79. Woot!

Turn is a 9. Not so woot.

River is no help. I rebuy.

That's the only hand I really remember as I didn't really pick up too many premium hands that night. I did see JJ at one point that I had to fold when the flop came AKx.crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-24386342009138621542007-05-07T19:29:00.000-05:002007-05-07T19:42:24.844-05:00$5 + $.50 TournamentPosition: 345/466

Fucking. "Deception through Honesty" is a much better name which also reflects my preferred style of play.

In my opinion, in a game where lying, posturing and trickery is expected, the biggest trick you can play is to play by the book. "Raise the best, call to invest, fold the rest" is a phrase used often in Tom McEvoy's book "Beat Texas Hold'em", and when going up against players who love their fancy plays (calling raises with low suited connectors, raising their draws, etc) the best strategy is the most basic one.crazdgamerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17136194934110945095noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2842248325361598022.post-78522915266628936232007-05-02T21:12:00.000-05:002007-05-02T21:18:33.056-05:00The Mookie, a.k.a.
