FTOPS V: Event #12

http://p.fulltiltpoker.com/ftops-V-two-day-event

8/18/2007: 3PM ET start. $2,500 + $120 to direct buy-in. $600K guarantee. (240 people registered will start increasing the prize pool. Thank you, calc.exe)
5000 starting chips (super-stack).
30 minute levels (you may start drooling all over yourself.)
Day 1 ends at level 15 or until there's two tables left.

Major satellite: 8/17/2007: $200 + $16 (in other words, the same as the buy-in for events 1, 2, 3, 8, 10 and 11).

Ho-ly shit. FTP says satellites start at $2.50 and 50 FTP points. Don't see those just yet, which I'd really, really, REALLY, like to start trying the cheap satellites. Screw the main event. This is the one you want to be in.

The Mookie - 7/11/2007

Buy-in: $10 + $1
Position: 1/67
Prize: $224.45

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Content incoming later. Need sleep now. Getting up early sucks.

----------------------

So it's The Mookie. Everyone loves The Mookie.

I bubbled last week and cashed at the MATH on Monday, so it's safe to say I'm running hot right now. The big thing that I'm doing now that I wasn't before was that I'm being more careful about the hands I'm playing, not just the cards I'm dealt, but who I'm going against and how I'm playing after the flop. Sometimes I continuation-bet if I missed, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes I open-raised from the cutoff, sometimes I limped, others I folded. I was mixing up my game, being mindful of my table image (which, I think, I've ignored.)

Things started off with me getting briefly disconnected right after the cards I dealt. I have no idea why this happens, but for the last month, whenever a blogger tourney starts up, I lose my connection for 2 seconds, then it comes back. Of course, I have to sit through the FTP connection screen for 30 seconds before I can act, so it's a good thing I never get a good hand to start.

Kajagugu took an early lead, being very aggressive, often betting when checked to and re-raising much more than the rest of the table.

I lose 1000 chips on this hand where aggression rules all, and I play top pair more passively than I usually do.

A couple of hands later, I raise 3xBB w/ A9o, get re-raised by Kajagugu, and am forced to fold. At this point, I'm starting to think that he won't have what he represents, but I won't go to war just yet, especially with A9.

I double-up through Fishy McDonk with QJ vs. QT on a Q83 flop. No 10 comes up, surprisingly.
Later, I eliminate Fishy with 44 vs. AA. He wasn't pleased at my call.

C'mon buddy. I was getting pot odds to call. Even if I don't hit my set, I either check/fold if there are lots of overs, or I double you up and still have 2000 chips left.

Towards the middle of the tournament, I started blinding off chips, not playing pots for a few orbits. Then at the 120/240/25 level, I put up a few pots to put me at ~6000.

Kajagugu: mookie on my left
Kajagugu: dookie on my left
Kajagugu: WTF FTP TD !!!!
crazdgamer: my name is crazdgamer
crazdgamer: not dookie

Blinds are up to 200/400/50. I'm keeping myself afloat at ~5000 / 6000, but with people dropping left and right, my stack is becoming a shortie.

At 250/500/50, kaellinn18 raises with A9, I push with QT, he calls. Flop a Q to double-up to 9100. Matt has 13K.

Mattazuma goes down in a coin flip. As BuddyDank/Instant Tragedy said "that's how you win a coin flip.

At 400/800/100, oossuuu754 raises with 33, kaellinn pushes with 8c9c, and osu calls. 3's hold up, and if it hasn't been cemented in the table's heads yet, osu is aggressive and not afraid to put chips in the pot.

Since DQB, I've been holding back once again, not playing a lot of pots, stealing only occasionally. This was probably because OSU was playing a lot of pots and it would be very easy for him to stack anyone at the table (like he did to kaellinn) if he has a leading, vulnerable hand. So, I'm hovering around 11K, was able to steal once to get to 14K.

For those keeping track, that's twice in the same tournament for one player. Jordan is now the guy to get rid of so we can get paid. NumbBono and GCox25 double up before Jordan gets 33 all-in against JJ. No suckouts and we the bubble is popped.

crazdgamer: ok, we all push now, right?
katitude: yep, it's like a token *grin
Kajagugu: tokens won !!!
surflexus (Observer): wait!!!!!!!!!!! some of the tokens have bigger numbers on them

I'm starting to get more aggressive in the pots I'm in now that we're in the money. Starting to steal some more. Chip up to 40K, still behind OSU who has 44K.

Missed opportunity: willwonka raises, jeciimd calls, I fold A3 in the BB, flop is 336. wonka pushes AK, jeciimd calls with 55. wonka spikes a turn A, river is a J.

Kajagugu: i folded the spanish inquisition there
InstantTragedy (Observer): NOONE EXPECTS IT!

Willwonka doubles through OSU with JJ vs K8, and I cripple willwonka myself...

Chip leader! Wooooooooooo.

jeciimd calls AQ all-in vs OSU's K7, 7 on the flop, 7 on the turns eliminates jeciimd.

I double-up willwonka, and Hoy makes a cameo.

Kajagugu pushes JT into katitude's AK and no one improves. Down to 4.

Before this hand, I had the lead but it was vulnerable, as I could still double-up people and lose said lead. After this hand, the lead becomes more secure.

I get QQ, standard raise to 8400, OSU pushes for 32K with A2, I instacall. Board is all blanks. OSU is gone. Seat 1: katitude (46,915) Seat 3: willwonka (32,968) Seat 7: crazdgamer (121,117)

I call will's AJ all-in w/ KT, get a K on the flop to eliminate him. If I didn't have a huge chip lead, I probably don't make that call. If I lose, I'll have 128K to will's 48K and kat's 24K. If my cards are live, it's worth the risk. Me and kat heads up.

I double her up once when she pushed for 12K (4BB), and I decide that ATC is good to try (having a stack of 180K). Call with 75 offsuit, she shows 92. We don't improve, she doubles.
